Planning application for 18 houses on Priory Field west

This page gives details of a major planning application to build 18 new houses on Priory Field west, off Packhorse Lane (A415). Please note that this application is sometimes described as Priory Lane, although it is not connected to Priory Lane itself.

  • Manor Oak Homes, on behalf of the Mr and Mrs Bedford, submitted an application to build 18 houses on Priory Field on 26 April 2013. This was a revised version of an application to build 19 houses which had been made earlier in the year.

  • The Parish Council met on 9 January 2013 to consider the earlier version of the application, and again on 12 June 2013 to discuss the final version. The Council considered comments made by residents and, among other things, the implications for traffic turning onto and off the A415, the impact on the wildlife, drainage both for foul sewer and surface water, the potential for flooding given past experiences of flooding in the Priory Lane area and the impact on the village school. After careful discussion the Council voted by 6 to 0 (with 1 abstention) to object to the application. The Council has written to the Vale of White Horse District Council to highlight the main concerns which were raised. Please click here to see the complete letter that was sent to VWHDC.

  • The application was discussed by the Vale of White Horse District Council Planning Committee on 26 June 2013. David Walton spoke on behalf of the Parish Council, Stuart Capel spoke on behalf of the objectors, the developer spoke on behalf of the supporters and Councillor Catherine Webber, our District Councillor, spoke objecting to the application. After some discussion, the Committee voted by 8 to 4 to grant planning permission, subject to various conditions including starting to build within one year.
